Drawing on the Past

This gallery shows work that was created for Hester's residency at Nidderdale Museum. The final pieces were displayed at Number Six Studio Gallery in July 2011 and are due to tour in 2011/2012. The work was inspired by the museum's bird egg collection and the migration project that was taking place in Nidderdale at the same time. Hester travelled from Masham to the museum across the moor and often cycled to better appreciate the countryside and birdlife. This led to her spending much time drawing, photographing and making sound recordings of the nesting curlews that come from the west coast of England and from Ireland every February to breed and lay their eggs on the moors at Nidderdale.

The prints are available to buy singly or as sets. Please make enquiries directly to Hester using the 'Contact' section of the website.
